DIGITAL SUBSTATIONS
Digital Substations operate with the standard LE (SV) IEC 61850-8-1 (GOOSE) protocol and are the new trend in the protection and control of electrical power substations. They represent infinite technical advantages, but in particular, they reduce the size of substations and operating costs.
Benefits
- Smaller substation size
- Greater amount of information can be processed digitally, available in different substation bays.
- It facilitates the analysis of information by being able to have it centralized
- Acquisition of information without loss of quality.
- Integration of non-conventional instrumentation transformers (NCIT).
- The requirements for current and voltage transformers are low due to the proximity of the equipment that transforms the analog signal into digital.
- Reduction in the quantity of copper cables and possible electromagnetic interference in their routes.
- Increases the safety of operating personnel by reducing electrical risk.
- Reduced intervention times for expansions and pre-commissioned systems are used to simulate the systems in service better.
- Highly standardized systems and information, which allows work to be streamlined during and later in possible expansions.
- Prepares the substation for future improvements and expansions.
- Lower lifetime cost
